
ABOUT KIERAN CHEANG
Having worked out of Singapore and San Francisco in marketing communication and video production, the blend of technological mediums inspires my work, and I strive to exploit grey areas across strategic channels. At this juncture of my life, I am fresh and energetic.
As a filmmaker, I believe in the value of powerful storytelling; art peers at the interstices of converging
communities — making the invisible visible. It’s uncomfortable, intrusive, and importantly, intentional. With right structures in place, I hope to bring this vision into creating engaging marketing campaigns to accelerate growth, and create meaningful traction.
SUMMARY OF WORK EXPERIENCES
During my time at HP Inc, I've turned over high quality video assignments meant for sales training and internal communication. With the heart for stories, I revamped their product training videos by encapsulating hero experiences from the eyes of real people. In three weeks, I delivered 3 user persona videos from pre production to delivery. In those videos, I interviewed product use cases and filmed 'a-day-in-the-life' footages as b-rolls, and the videos were eventually selected for screening at a company-wide sales call.
In the past two years, I completed two short films, and marketed them to some success. My latest film, Come Home was an official selection at the Berlin Flash Film Festival 2017. My debut film, Hurt, was awarded top 10 by a Singaporean entertainment company, MM2, and a finalist at the ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival 2018. Having planned and executed a media outreach campaign, the film reached a hundred thousand views in two months on YouTube, and was covered on popular online news publications, and a magazine. From that record, I was commissioned to direct a web series produced by MM2 in 2017.
Prior to my enlistment into the Army, I did an internship with Love with Food, a US-based start-up in California. In my 6-month stint, I achieved a number of successes; including launching the company’s YouTube channel as a marketing medium as well as securing contracts with high profile YouTube celebrities for public relations purposes. I was also heavily involved with social media tracking and report writing for the participating brands of Love with Food. The aspect I enjoyed most about my work was to create original creative video content that supports branding and promotions.
